Provenance
Found in Samaria 1975, with Baidun Antiquities, San Diego private collection acquired 1990's.
Found in
Samaria, in the ancient roman city of Sabaste area prior to 1978. The lion’s
face is in high relief, with fine details. Very thick and heavy bronze, with
beautiful deep green patina. This beautiful piece was a handle, where the
ring was placed in the lion’s mouth (now missing). This handle was used for a
chest handle. A very fine and strong piece indeed.
