A bronze candlestick with silver inlay with Mamluk Nashk inscription that adorns the body. The inscription is interrupted by three round medallions which are filled with flying ducks in the so called T-Fret motifs. Typical of Ayyubid and Mamluk metalwork, the inscription runs around the edge of the flat shoulder, flanked by three rosettes with rich decoration on the socket. Although part of the silver inlay is now missing, it is a very fine example of Mamluk metal construction. Egypt, 14th century.
